Transition to Kindergarten

Purpose
To ensure that all children experience a smooth transition from early care and education settings to Kindergarten.  To share information on early childhood education with parents and early education programs and providers, through outreach and programming, promoting awareness and emphasizing the importance of quality early care and education.

Responsibilities

• Share information and materials with the school system about successful transitions, providing suggestions for improving practices.
• Update and send out the Kindergarten Readiness Form to preschools and day cares each spring.
• Bring together early education providers with kindergarten teachers at least once a year for informal discussions.
• Share information and materials with early care and education providers to increase their awareness of local and state educational outcomes.
• Provide yearly programming for early care and education providers on topics that will enhance the quality of services offered to families with young children.
• Offer at least two opportunities a year for the Enfield community to increase their understanding.
